It is said that walking is one of the easiest forms of exercise, it can be done anywhere at anytime and benefits each person greatly. It is an easy and convenient way to add the essential exercise to our lives, even though it may be a low impact way to do so. With so many different areas in which we live, next to a beach, walking track, leafy area or even a residential suburb, walking is a great way to connect with nature, explore the world you live in and improve your overall wellbeing.

No matter what your daily schedule is or how busy the life you lead may be, some small from of exercise needs to be a part of that. This is one of the most appealing factors of walking, it doesn’t cost a thing, you are in the fresh air breathing in and absorbing the sunshine while clearing your mind and moving your body.

In the morning find half an hour as the sun rises or as you wake to hop out of bed, change into some comfortable clothes and shoes and get walking or do a slight jog for set times if you wish! This is such a positive way to begin your day and sure to set your mind into the most positive state. I personally find that walking each morning allows you to regroup your mind, focus on yourself and mentally plan your day and create a more upbeat outlook on life in general.

If the morning is not suited for you then take a walk with a friend when the sun is setting, have a chat and socialise while you walk. The small steps count when it comes to walking, aim for half an hour in a set walk before your day begins or as it finishes, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk to the shops, walk your kids to school and lessen the time of driving, it will only benefit you.

A few other proved benefits of walking are: lowers the stress levels due to the release of feel good hormones, has little impact on joints, improves bone density, is known to improve sleeping patterns, energises, allows sunshine exposure for vitamin D intake and it is enjoyable either on your own or with company.

For the next seven days, try to do just half an hour of walking a day and see how amazing you will feel afterwards. Such a small change in your lifestyle can really benefit you in the long run.
