After the incredible success of Jonette George’s award-winning and internationally selling coffee table book Flavours of Melbourne, it is no surprise that she has released a sequel entitled Flavours of Urban Melbourne. Unlike the first Flavours book, which focused mainly within the CBD, Flavours of Urban Melbourne features reviews and recipes from restaurants and cafes in Melbourne’s inner and outer suburbs. The book has been divided into regions, making it easy for readers to find pages about their favourite local cafes, as well as locate new and interesting places that the city has to offer.

Flavours of Urban Melbourne is a lavishly designed coffee table book which takes readers on a culinary journey through some of Melbourne’s greatest cafes, bars and restaurants in city’s Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern suburbs. The book features information about popular local establishments such as Cutler & Co, Huxtable, The Commoner and Melbourne Public, with each being showcased through exuberant photographs and articles sharing stories about their history and unique style.

Flavours of Urban Melbourne is not merely a recipe and review book, it is a guide to eating and experiencing good food in Melbourne. The book features images that are bright and colourful, making restaurant interiors look stunning and their food look fresh and delicious. As well as including short biographies about Melbourne restaurant owners and chefs, George includes historical information about each area in the book, as well as a timeline. Readers are provided with information about how the inner suburbs of Melbourne became so widely renowned for quality and affordable dining.

Proving that the book is trusted and appreciated by some of Melbourne’s most famous chefs, Flavours of Urban Melbourne even includes recipes of some of Melbourne’s most popular dishes from well known restaurants.

Not only is the book filled with a feast of detailed reviews written by the book’s author and renowned foodie Jonette George, Flavours of Urban Melbourne is also a family effort as George collaborated with her daughters Daniele and Kaitlyn Wilton to finish the book. Alongside photographers Paul Fletcher and Bianca White, Daniele and Kaitlyn assisted with the design and photography for George’s latest masterpiece. There is no doubt that Flavours of Urban Melbourne is revolutionising restaurant critique and bringing Melbourne cuisine to the forefront of Australian dining.
