Once upon a time, in far away Sweden, family man Erik Thulin built a Pike trap. Imprinted with his family name ‘Thule’, he sold the trap to fisherman all over Scandinavia, leading him (and his family name) to become one of the most innovative and successful equipment brands in the world.
The Thule group has since created a wide range of gear to transport sporting good ranging from bikes to surfboards securely, safely and in style. They aim to target active people all over the world at all levels of fitness and provide them with high-quality solutions to transport their equipment as easily as possible.
What started off, as a single invention of a trap to catch fish in, has since turned into a multi-million dollar company with hundreds of different and stylish products available all over the world. Roof racks, bike and water sports carriers and roof boxes all enable the transportation of sporting equipment, whilst smaller products such as luggage and ‘trunk organizers’ will keep any vehicle neat and tidy.
Their designs are sleek and reflect a ‘less is more’ ideology, which and be seen as one of the reasons why they are so popular. Their products fit well within any vehicle, improving space efficiency and organisation of sporting goods.
Thulin have collaborated with the likes of Konig, a snow chain manufacturer, Omnistor, an RV accessorites company and towing systems company Brink in 2006. By doing so, Thule have adapted and moulded to keep up with a forever changing market, ensuring their designs are both timely and practical.
It is somewhat refreshing to know a company that originated some 70 years ago, is still, if not more, successful than ever. This brand is the direct result of innovation at a time of need, as a way to survive and has only continued to live through the understanding of evolution. Praise to the Thule company.
