An overwhelming 85% of Australian women are left feeling ashamed about their body size and shape after a shopping experience, according to independent research conducted by Fame & Partners, one of Australia’s leading online formal and event-wear retailer. For plus size girls, this figure jumps to 97.26% of girls who have had negative feelings about their body after going clothes shopping. Nearly all size 16 plus women say they find it hard to find clothing that fits and flatters their body shape.
Nyree Corby, CEO and Founder of Fame & Partners says, ‘Australian clothing stores and brands aren’t promoting positive body image and making women look and feel good in the clothes they have available…’ Over a quarter of plus size girls look first to off-shore online retailers when in search for new clothing, according to Ms Corby.
The X Collection, released by Fame & Partners aims to help women combat their negative self-image and allows them to embrace their own physical attributes. The line consists of formal and event wear and has been developed by Fame & Partners in conjunction with world famous US plus size Fashion Blogger, Liz Black. The collection offers inclusive and affordable fashion for girls of all ages.
‘Being plus size shouldn’t be about being relegated to the back of the store, with limited dowdy options and always looking like an unfashionable bridesmaid,’ says Ms Black. The clothing that she helps design is anything but drab and boring. Fame & Partners firmly want to celebrate the individual attributes of every Australian girl, no matter her size or shape.
With the launch The X Collection, Fame and Partners hope to change the face of Australian retail and leave girls feeling positive and glamorous. Find out more about the line visit www.fameandpartners.com.au
