Project Everest is starting a revolution amongst students across the globe.

Teaching outside the classroom is a new way to step outside the box (literally) with more and more education facilities noticing the benefits of teaching outside.

Research has found that experiential learning adds significant value to young people’s learning aiding in stronger interpersonal skills, improved learning, independence, and problem solving.

Project Everest is a social enterprise that aims to solve the world’s most complex development problems by building financially sustainable solutions.

Owner of Project Everest, Wade Tink, strongly believes in the philosophy of outdoor teaching that he has partnered with universities across the globe to offer students these opportunities.

Project Everest is a social enterprise that aims to solve the world’s most complex development problems by building financially sustainable solutions.

“Universities seem to be opting for more hands on experience for their students and are steering away from strictly traditional approach to teaching and learning”, said Mr Tink.

So many students thrive in outdoors environments in turn this opportunity will be beneficial for a large majority if not all students.

Location based projects in developing countries, students become effective leaders and develop both hard and soft skills that will help them transition into the reality of the workforce.

Currently Project Everest is working with university students in FarmEd based in Fiji. This project involves using drone technology to give local smallholder farms access to digital agricultural advice.

The aim of FarmEd is to put a stop to world hunger by providing accessible agricultural advice, which will increase economic opportunities in local communities through the development and optimisation of farmland and the associated supply chain.

Mr Tinks says, “FarmEds mission is to solve agriculture issues in Fiji so we have varying projects over there to deal with this. The university students and their team leaders create and work on these projects which include field development, drone investigation, developing practical solutions and providing a commercial consulting service.”
