Your technology should be subtle. Your jewellery should be smart.
It’s quite a proclamation US based jewellery company Ringly are making. The small team of designers and engineers have come together to revolutionise the way we use our smart phones and accessories.
I’ve got an Apple Watch. They’re incredibly designed, slim-lined and extremely wearable, but they also come with a battery life we’ve come to loathe from the average Apple product. Ringly is the first brand to notice this consistent characteristic and to solve it. Even using a smaller device to do so: the humble ring.
We shouldn’t use the word humble. Not really. The rings come in a variety of moonstones including onyx, quartz, emerald and chalcedony, that truly shine in the decadent light of day. With price tags starting at US$195, they’re a gift of great love. With Christmas fast approaching, they’re the kind of present that will come much appreciated under the tree.
The rings connect via Bluetooth to your smartphone device to vibrate or flash a light colour of your choice, signalling that you’ve received a new email, text message or call. The device connects to an App that allows you to customise the vibration type and decide which people or social media accounts you wish to receive alerts for. It’s basically on call 24/7, with the decadent ring box it comes with being its one-stop charger.
And that’s just it: you won’t need to charge your Ringly for up to a week. A whole week.
Perfect for when you’re out at a romantic dinner (where it would be downright rude to leave your phone at the table), in a business meeting or at home cooking dinner, it’s the most ingenious way to hide your tech use.
