Calle Rey is the brainchild of vegan food enthusiast and physiotherapist Madison Cohen and talented Peruvian plant-based chef: JC Miranda. The two have paired together to serve affordable, delicious Mexican to Sydneysiders, and this unique restaurant and bar in Newton are turning out to be a hit!

Calle Rey: Plant-based Mexican

Inspired by local and seasonal produce, Calle Rey’s menu offering aims to push the boundaries of nutritious, vegetarian food. It offers a truly ground-breaking dining experience for Sydney’s vegan eateries scene. After meeting in a restaurant where JC Miranda worked as the head chef and Cohen was a patron, the two combined their love and knowledge of plant-based food to creating this stylish, fun, lighthearted plant-based venue.

Co-founder JC Miranda explains,” Our goal is for people to trust in a plant-based future by sharing in our creative, innovative and delicious food whilst having a new experience in Sydney never seen before.” Together, JC Miranda and Madison Cohen have created a tailored, innovative plant-based offering that is 100% inspired by their passion for vegetarian foods. Their love for plant-based nutrition hasn’t stopped there; the pair have even released their very own vegetarian cookbook ‘Calle Rey A Cookbook.’

Calle Rey is doing something right, and there has been an overwhelmingly positive response from plant-based Sydneysiders. The restaurant consistently has a rating of 4.5/5 stars, and some of the customer highlights include the great ambience, exceptional service, affordable pricing and freshness. You can check out their Facebook here to see some of the stellar reviews for yourself.
