When the routine of your day-to-day life becomes dull and your world becomes a little too much, you know that you need some time away from everyday living. Imagine if you could escape just for a while, either on your own, with your partner or with your most spontaneous friends for a bit of an adventure. Something different and unique that will surely take you out of your comfort zone…

This is the perfect time to consider packing your essentials and heading to the African Namibia for one of the most extraordinary experiences of your life. The safari to consider is that of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast – the strange solitude of one of the worlds most unusual and scenic places will captivate you in a way that you could not even begin to imagine. This is a place far away from anything close to civilisation, a rarely explored piece of the earth with wide, open spaces that are not the least bit developed upon and not at all populated. It is the perfect mix of desert and paradise – the perfect escape from the over-populated cities and polluted air that most of us call home.

The name ‘Skeleton Coast’ refers to the treacherous, barren shoreline where the wrecking of ships and whale bones reside along the beaches masked with the air of fog. The coastline also acts as a breeding ground for thousands of Cape fur Seals who can be seen lounging about on the rocks and beaches anticipating the arrival or their beautiful, blue-eyed seal pups who arrive sometime in late November or early December.

The best way to explore the most of this isolated land that is made up of swiftly moving, sand mountains, reputed to be the highest on earth is by aircraft. These lively sand dunes, shaped and driven by the waves of the sea winds are found in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib Desert, known to be one of the world’s oldest and driest places. During sunrise and sunset these iconic sand dunes vibrantly show the shades of an apricot colour, diverse texture and height. An experience like this is enhanced when climbing a sand dune and listening closely to the roars of the sand grains being shifted to shape the orange mountain of sand.

If an experience like this safari doesn’t give you that push of adventure and spontaneous escape, then I have no idea what will. Being so different to the usual lives we live, a safari is a true travelling experience, ideal to clear your mind and made to take you back to the basic simplicity of the earth and its natural wonders.
