The furnishing giant IKEA has unveiled their new collaboration with leading audio brand Sonos, to create fashionable high tech speakers to fit into any home. The new SYMFONISK range will entail a bookshelf and a lamp with hidden speakers, waiting to play high-quality audio all-around your house.

IKEA SONOS

These beautifully designed speakers fit well into any home as a piece of furniture. But the tech hidden underneath creates exciting high-quality sound from anywhere in the room, and seamlessly connects with other Sonos speakers, to create an ecosystem of design and immersive sound. IKEA and Sonos have come together to integrate music and sound in the home to create products designed for how people listen out loud, together.

IKEA Australia spokesperson Mark Mitchinson says, “sound enhances our life at home…Sound can act as a mood booster and is as important for creating the perfect atmosphere at home as any rug, art piece, or sofa. We’re thrilled that IKEA has continued to explore the exciting world of audio, in collaboration with Sonos to blend sound into the home.”

The SYMFONISK range consists of two products, a table lamp and a bookshelf speaker. While both produce quality sound and aesthetically pleasing, there are obvious differences between the two.

SYMFONISK Table Lamp with Wifi Speaker:

The table lamp offers a sleek and functioning lamp with an inbuilt speaker by Sonos. Inspired by a fireplace, spreading warmth and sound, the table lamp blends into any home and packs a powerful speaker underneath. The table lamp challenges the traditional high-tech aesthetics and design without compromising on the sound quality and also declutters the home with fewer cords and devices. While the lamp may look beautiful, the sound that comes from it is unparalleled. The instant audio is played through, you forget you’re listening from a speaker and instead enjoy the immersion that it creates. The Table Lamp will be available to buy from in-store and online from the 27th of September and will be priced at $269.00 AUD

SYMFONISK Wi-Fi Bookshelf Speaker:

IKEA SONOS

This bookshelf speaker can be blended into any part of the home. Holding up to three kilos, the shelf speaker, can be used as, well, a shelf, but we are not sure why you would do that when the sound it creates is more impressive than it’s shelf capacity. The Wi-Fi speaker can be connected to all other Sonos devices, to create again the immersive ecosystem of sound that Sonos has sought out to execute. The sound quality of the shelf speaker parallels the lamp, and when more a paired together you can create a surround system. With a price of only $149.00 This fantastic Sonos speaker is a great first, or addition to your home. The Shelf Speaker will be released with the Lamp Speaker on the 27th of September.

Smart Home Capability

Both SYMFONISK speakers are Wi-Fi ready and are able to be controlled via the Sonos App and are compatible with Sonos’ own product range. Also, these speakers are able to be directly controlled by voice assistants such as Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. IKEA and Sonos want customers to feel directly connected with their space and have certainly achieved that with this collaboration. This is one of many products that are smart home enabled and is definitely not the last.

Overall this fantastic collaboration is not to miss. The Sonos x IKEA range provides aesthetics and function in the home, creating a fantastic environment of light and sound for everyone in the home to experience. Celebrate the launch of the SYMFONISK range IKEA Tempe from Thursday 25 July until Sunday 4 August, and experience the speakers for yourself in an immersive audio studio. If you can’t wait to get your hands on these products, don’t worry as they will be launching in September 27th online and in-store.

These speakers mark the start of a great collaboration between Sonos and IKEA, and we can’t wait to see what they in store next.
