Yes, it’s a little early to be talking bright prints, swimwear, cocktail dresses and anything else that resembles the warmer months that we all miss so much. Year after year it is no surprise that Alex Perry and his glamourous gowns depict the exact definition of beauty and style. His latest S/S 11 collection showcased the most beautiful array of garments which perfectly portrayed the look of modern elegance. In colours of blood orange, pomegranate, aqua and vibrant tones of red, as well as the classic black and cream, the exquisitely draped dresses swept along the runway on the ‘expensive’ looking, high-status models with ANTM winners, Amanda Ware and Alice Burdeu modelling in the collection. Each dress, short and long featured playful hemlines, cut away necklines, relaxed and structured silhouettes, clean lines, soft drapes, tasteful embellishments, extreme detail and were the exact epitome of modern glamour.
The Summer 2011 collection showed by the brand Nookie, best known for their summer outfits and flattering bikinis, simply added to the talent shown in RAWF 11. The collection had the vibe of an exotic getaway to a tropical island far from the homeland. The naturally striking models glided down the runaway in a mix of beachwear and swimwear, with a slightly seductive yet tribal look all worn in the earthy tones of terracotta, khaki and cream as well as purple, navy blue, aqua, multi-coloured prints and even hints of metallic gunmetal colours. The collection featured textured one-piece bikinis with attention-grabbing cut outs, delicate triangle bikinis, higher rises, flowing summer dresses, cropped tops and a variety of relaxed pieces on the bottom half.
TAFE NSW Fashion Design Studio, chose their most talented students to showcase their innovative and creative designs to viewers in a combined show at Fashion Week. This is a show that absolutely everybody waits in anticipation for each year. This year it was ‘The Innovators’, Charlotte O’Carrigan, Leah Hibbert, Emma Mulholland and Anna Westcott who more than just pleased their awaiting audience with their collections. Each collection was so creative that it became an inspiration and a reminder of what fashion is all about – having fun with it. All four young designers featured varied pieces in their collection with vibrant colours, elaborate detail and truly mind-blowing designs. Watch these designers, they are the future of fashion.
