A decade ago if you were slightly larger than a size 10-12, there weren’t many options when it came to shopping for the latest fashion must-haves. It was more of a struggle and chore when it came to shopping and quite far from pleasurable. Now the times have changed and the plus-size women of today can enjoy shopping as much as any other.

The trend-setters within the fashion industry, I’m talking the designers, stylists, modelling agencies, the list goes on… Are all influencing the forward fashions that the curvaceous women are not easily able to wear and purchase from practically anywhere, from boutiques to shopping centres and department stores; there sure are some amazing pieces available. What’s better is that the fashion industry is embracing these plus-size collections, putting together campaigns, photo shoots and editorial features that promote this part of the industry.

Those of you who do happen to be considered as “plus-size” there are some seriously flattering and fashionable pieces out there for you in stores and labels by the likes of; Towanda, Embody Denim, M Line, Damn You Alexis, City Chic, Dream Diva, My Size, TS14+ and Volupture. All the stores and labels listed feature varieties of pieces that can easily be styled into an outfit that will make you feel nothing short of feminine, womanly and beautiful.

Though the above stores and labels may be specifically catered to the plus-size sector of retail for women, they are not the only stockists of suitable apparel. When you do head into the shops, take a look around at the different stores, step into the “regular” shops that may not be specifically for plus-size women. Depending on what you are looking for you may be surprised at what you find. If you are after loose-fitting clothing that compliments your figure, why not try alternative stores? The label ‘Gorman’ has some shirtdresses ideal for full figured women; as the silhouette is naturally baggier with these styles you may find that the cut is surprisingly really flattering on when worn.

We can embrace the curves that women naturally have and appreciate what’s out there for the plus-size women of today. Fashion is there to be experimented with, appreciated, styled and worn with personality, however we wish!
