When you step into a store, flick through the pages of a fashion magazine or stroll through the weekend markets you are observing reinventions pieces of the past. It is extremely rare to find something so new that has never been created before, at least some inspiration has been taken from the decades before us to create such a captivating piece of fashion. This is the way of the fashion world, the cycle in which styles repeat themselves. This creates a whole other level in the many genres of fashion – we call it ‘Vintage’.

Out of the 57 shows being featured at this years RAFW ’11, it seems that more than ever before this years focus was a little different. There were no live vermin mingling with the models, no infamous volcano dress and no ‘celebrity models’ being complete divas. This year it was all quite simply about the most important thing, the reason why bloggers, editors, media, press and socialites show up to Rosemount Australian Fashion Week year after year; the clothes, accessories, the outfit.

With Australian Fashion Week, RAFW 11 ending today the collections presented by the most inspiring Australian designers, the Spring/Summer 2011 trends for the future are clearly going to be nothing but astonishing this year. Yes, it’s a little early to be talking bright prints, swimwear, cocktail dresses and anything else that resembles the warmer months that we all miss so much. Though I feel the need to share with you just exactly what we all have to look forward to…
