Panasonic SD-2501

Breadmakers are just one of the many evolving kitchen appliances competing for valuable real estate on the kitchen counter. Although freshly baked bread has its undeniable appeal, breadmakers are sometimes regarded with a degree of scepticism due to their high tech appearance and the ready availability of supermarket bread. Yet bread lovers and kitchen whizzes alike have readily jumped on board the bread machine bandwagon and been duly rewarded with fragrant loaves of fresh bread.

As one of the first manufacturers of bread machines, Panasonic have perfected the kneading, rising and baking processes required to produce bread within a single unit. One of most advanced models available on the market, the Panasonic SD-2501 is mid-priced but doesn’t skimp on the features. A direct improvement on its predecessor the SD-257, the 2501 model offers 3 different type of crust covers and loaf sizes, jam and compote mode, a gluten-free program (among 13 different programs) and an automatic fruit and nut dispenser. If you’ve never baked bread before or want to cut down on kitchen time, Panasonic SD-2501 cooks up beautifully turned-out loaves that can be modified anyway you want to.

SD-2501’s recipes include all the basics: white, wheat, rye, French, Italian, sandwich and pizza. An added specialty mode allows users to cook with various cereals and flours such as spelt. Follow the detailed guideline to find out how to customise your bread to perfection. SD-2501 also sports a 13-hour digital timer and a 10 minute power interruption protection feature with self-resetting motor protector. It’s important to measure the ingredients to exact specifications and add them in the correct order for a flawless result.

To top it off the scratch proof Panasonic SD-2501’s diamond-fluoro coated bread pan and kneading blade makes for easy cleaning. The quality and texture of bread on standard settings is light with a respectably crusty exterior. Expect to wait longer for wholemeal loaves – around 5 hours – and four hours for a white loaf. The unit itself is a sleek polished white, quiet and controlled by an easy to operate panel on the top. Despite its lack of viewing window, a feature many bread machine buyers enjoy, the Panasonic SD-2501 is a solid choice for those looking for quality, ease of use and consistently good bread.
