Whilst walking along Copacabana beach, Neide Ambrosio picked up several rings from tin cans and continued to collect them until one day, she imaginatively decided to make belts and bags from her extensive stash of tin lids. Being well into her sixties and residing in the small Brazilian town of Sao Paulo, Neide continues to design and hand make clothing and accessories made entirely from a few pieces of material crocheted together with recycled aluminium pop tops that you will find on a can of soft drink.

A few years on from her originally made pieces, Neide has now designed and created over 240 fashion items including bags, belts, hats, dresses and pants from recycled materials including the original tin pop tops. The range of bags has had the most international response and continues to be what makes the Neide Ambrosio accessory collection stand out from the rest. The Neide Ambrosio accessory collection is mainly known for the amazing statement bags made by the hand crocheting of the gleaming aluminium pop tops in silver and bronze based tones. These bags are a chic, modern take on eco-friendly fashion and really do make an out there fashion statement. A personal favourite would be the ‘Soda Pop-Top Backpack’ in the colour ‘Bronze Gleam’ which is pictured to the left of this page. I’m not one to favour backpacks all that much, though this one is a little special.

The self titled Neide Ambrosio range is now such a success that it has been bought into US stores and is easily available to us through the convenience of online stores such as; www.novica.com which stocks most of the Neide Ambrosio range of accessories for about $120.00 to $250.00 in US dollars.

It’s definitely worth taking a look at the Neide Ambrosio collection and if you happen to see something you like… purchase! You will be doing your bit for the environment whilst investing in a statement fashion piece and supporting the eco-friendly side to the fashion world.
