The menswear label, Rodd & Gunn is known for the simply practical pieces that make the wardrobes of many men across the Australasian region. A range of clothing and accessories made from linens, cottons, wools and leathers that significantly give a relaxed and at ease feel to the Rodd & Gunn collections will soon be available over in Auckland, New Zealand.
The New Zealand store will be launched with both a male model and a female model from the homeland of New Zealand to be the face of the brand. Mike Beagley, the MD of the new Rodd & Gunn concept said that the new model does not necessarily have to have the ‘traditional model look’ though Mike Beagley did say “R&G is for real men and that’s who we want representing our brand; a guy with rugged good looks and of course a gorgeous girl to match him.” It’s good to see that Rodd & Gunn will be doing a more ‘real’ campaign when the label is launched in New Zealand.
The new model and look of the Rodd & Gunn brand is not the only part of the launch that the men of New Zealand should be looking forward to; the design of the retail store sounds like it should be something like never before seen in the usual hotspots of New Zealand shopping centres.
The store development manager, Nik Rush has said: “21 High St played host to the iconic Deschler’s bar for many years, and the site has retained that relaxed vibe, well suited to chilling out and relaxing. Roughcast brick walls, exposed beams and raw wooden floorboards make up the physical structure; add a pool table, comfortable leather chairs and a counter that doubles as a bar, and you get the real essence of the brand coming to life – authentic, masculine, understated style,”.
It seems the vibe the store and the brand itself will give off the vibe of a casual and relaxed weekend away, making it an easy yet unique shopping experience for the men on the hunt for some laid-back weekend basics.
