A lot of hours are spent outdoors during summer, barbeques, days by the pool, friendly get togethers and family moments. Usually the outdoor space of your home is deserted over the cooler months and sometimes to hot to be in during the warmer ones. While the weather isn’t going to make you overheat right now, it’s the perfect time to start preparing your outdoor area for summer, re-decorating and creating a new style of space that can be your own little oasis or act as a suitable spot for a gathering.

No matter what your style or personal taste may be, it’s easy to freshen up the outdoors of your home for the coming season. If you spend a lot of time or no time in the outdoor area, why not update with a few pieces to keep it looking pretty?

Any outdoor space can be instantly changed around with a few chairs, cushions, coverage and lights, the little things that mix it up a little. You don’t have to re-do your pavement, build a deck, put in a pool or paint a wall a crazy colour to update the overall look and feel of your outdoor home. Use the chairs and table as your base and work up the look with coloured vases, printed cushions, decorative flowers, a small water feature, add pebbles to your surrounding garden and set up the area with a casual and summer style in mind. These extra accessories are also suitable for those with apartments or very limited space to decorate, which make them literally ideal for everyone in any home.

As a little inspiration, the image to the left shows just how practical and modern an outdoor space can be, with the accessories similar to what I have listed above. The four images in this posts photo remind me of a tropical summer holiday, the style of the pieces give this sort of vibe and instantly make me want to teleport to somewhere like this. It would be the most perfect place to read a book and relax at home and is so easy to do. I’m actually considering bringing home a few chairs and sourcing some pretty cushions with tribal and floral prints! Whether you plan to be alone or have a few friends over, the space will set the scene beautifully.

A great part about doing this is that these pieces can be found almost anywhere; large home wear stores such as Ikea and Domain have many to choose from as do the department stores like Target or Myer. Take a look in the catalogues and lifestyle magazines for some inspiration for looks, this was just one of the many out there.
