With summer just around the corner and the weather warming up so quickly, we are all beginning to become excited for another sunny and hot season of summer with the long holidays, festivities and long, lazy days becoming nothing but the usual.
We each have a vision of how our summer will be lived, and more often than not, that vision is how it just happens to unfold. Our summer is all about being outside, cocktails by the pool, family barbeques, street performances, music festivals, enjoying Callipo’s on Bondi beach and lazing about as though you are on a permanent holiday come the weekend.
I find that during summer, I usually end up doing the same thing for most of the time, either being at the beach with my friends or family or by the pool tanning with a colourful drink in hand. This summer, I want to make the most of it by being out and about when the weather is perfect for exploring the city and the country that I live in, I think we all should do this a little more instead of living in a routine.
Imagine what you want your summer to be this time round, what you want to be doing, who you want to be hanging with, how memorable you want NYE to be, how you want to celebrate a family Christmas and the memories you will have of it a year from now.
Create an image that gives you a vibe of your perfect summer, list what you want to do and see and live out your idea. This summer my vibe will be relaxed, carefree, eventful and lively, the image in my mind is getting a group together in some sort of roofless car driving to a secluded beach with a lake by the side to relax in, we’re all wearing pretty closes and I have the Chelsea sunglasses by House of Harlow on, our hair is a mess, we have some mix of old school music playing, the guys have coronas and the girls have endless cocktails. Of course, your summer vibe or image can be more than one idea like this! That was just a general one.
Other ideas on what you can do could be, visit the markets on the weekend (Paddington, Glebe, Rozelle and Bondi are always good for Sydney-siders), visit some sort of historic building with a nice view like Fort Denision, go up in the sky in a hot air balloon, take a quiet weekend away, sail a kayak, cruise on the harbour, visit ten new hotspots, drive a few hours to a distant beach (Clifton Beach is beautiful and naturally surrounded by cliffs), try summer foods that will make you feel refreshed not bloated, be outside as much as possible, go on a picnic with a basket and all, have a family day with all of you, invest in essential summer pieces that will make you feel your best on the beach, go on a roadtrip, book a holiday, work less and enjoy your three months of the famous Australian summer.
As someone once said to me, “everything is possible in summer” there are no limits, be carefree and enjoy. Let’s make our hopes our memories.
