A trend that started in the early sixties, with mod tunics and chunky platforms has made a comeback, rocking Rosemount Fashion Week and retailers worldwide.

You may remember fuchsia pencil skirts, blue stockings and bee-hive up styles making their mark in the 1960’s. Models along the likes of Twiggy and Jean Shripmton graced the covers on Vouge with their bold numbers and false eyelashes, commencing the frenzy of colour blocking. Well, like most things, fashion is cyclical and this bold rainbow of 1960’s fashion has been an inspiration for Designers in this year’s Rosemount Fashion week.

Gucci, MaxMara and Prada were all behind the kaleidoscope of colours that burst down fashion weeks runways in May. From vibrant oranges and electric blues to pale peaches and lilacs, there wasn’t a pattern in sight. The trend has now made its way into local retailers around the globe, with each designer incorporating two tone colour blocks. Tony Bianco has released a few different combinations of wedges and stilettos, a lot of them almost selling out from pre-orders!

Pinks and blues are the most popular, with two tone colour blocks working effortlessly together. Colour blocking of beige and black also adds a dressier edge to the summery trend. Depending on your skin tone/hair colour this trend should is fairly easy to full an outfit together with, but referring to Hayley’s column on colour blocking will assist you with choosing the right colours for you.
