Volkswagen has introduced a new addition to its Polo range. The Polo Style has everything that is included in Volkswagen’s other small hatchbacks but now comes with a variety of extra features and wonderful details that really feels like Volkswagen has put their final touches on their Polo range.
The 2019 Volkswagen Polo Style, or the 85TSI is you want to get pedantic, prices from $24,990 before on-road cost and is available in six colours: Reef Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Limestone Grey Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic, Pure White, and Energetic Orange Metallic. Replacing the staple red metallic that is usually available in most car models, Volkswagen has chosen instead to go for a metallic orange that shines while looking stylish and unique.
The exterior is what you want from a small hatchback: it’s slim and sleek, without looking too wide in the rear. The interior is black and leather, with a leather steering wheel. The interior really pops especially when contrasted to the bright orange paint tone. The cabin, particularly the driver’s side, is incredibly roomy, with ample head space for taller people, and leg space which means you can stay comfortable, even during a long drive. The seats, both front and rear, are very sturdy and firm, yet are quite cushioned and give plenty of comfort.
In terms of technology, the Polo Style has everything found in the other Polo models, plus a whole heap more. The Polo Style includes an “Infotainment” System. This includes an 8 “ touch screen, including Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, Android Auto, voice activation, maps, and other apps. One added feature that isn’t found in the other Polo models is the inclusion of a Beats Premium audio system, which allows for the clearest and sharpest audio in your car. Other features include wireless phone charging ports, privacy glass, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and Cruise Control.
Despite the magnitude of features and technology jammed into the cabin, the interior remains surprisingly uncluttered, as everything seems to have its own space and storage. In the front, there are trays for wireless phone charging, spacious door pockets, a console bin, and two large hexagonal cup holders sitting in the middle console. The rear also has ample storage space, with water bottle holders in the doors and two USB ports facing the back from the centre console.
If all these features just aren’t enough, however, there is also a Driver Assistance package available at $1500. This package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind spot Monitors, Park Assist, and Power folding door mirrors.
When it comes to the drive, the fuel economy on all of the Volkswagen Polo models are great. However, the real winner for the Style is the steering capability. The steering is sharp and responsive, and makes turning, merging, and cornering a breeze. The weight distribution of the car works well in this situation, as you never feel like the rear will spin out from behind you. Overall, the Polo range from Volkswagen is stylish and advanced. But it seems that the Pol Style is the best value throughout the different models.
