As Trevor Rooney (National Channel Manager, SONOS) says; “we can thank Apple for mobilizing our music, enabling us to play it wherever we want. SONOS brings music back to the home. We have created a social space where music can be shared and enjoyed with others.”

SONOS is the fastest growing wireless HiFi Company in the world. And it’s not for the faint hearted. One look at the website shows an edgy, ultra-modern brand that is willing to challenge how we experience, play and discover music.

Born in Santa Barbara, California in 2002, SONOS now boasts a presence in 80 countries worldwide. The range includes the ‘Connect’ ($549) and ‘Connect: Amp;’ ($799), ‘Play: 3’ ($419) and ‘Play: 5’ ($599) speaker systems and finally the newly released ‘Sub’ ($999).

A massive drawcard of the SONOS Multi-Room Music System lies in its simplicity of set-up. Connect your system to your router or via a SONOS BRIDGE ($79), follow a few easy-peasy prompts from your SONOS software controller and your all networked up! In less than five minutes, you could be playing different songs in different “zones” in your home, or have them “paired” together to experience true stereo sound. The appeal of the SONOS system is enhanced further through ability to create and control playlists for each “zone,” via a free app available for your iOS or Android device.

However, the beauty of the SONOS Multi-Room Music System doesn’t stop there. Not only can you play music from your own network library. It also enables you to stream over 100, 000 free radio stations, podcasts and programmes; as well as download music systems including Spotify, Rdio ,JB Now ,Songl and Telstra MOG. This standout feature allows you to stream endless amounts of music or programmes from any corner of the world…offering the chance to become more globally connected, as well as keep in touch with family and friends overseas. As Trevor Rooney points out, “you could be reading an album review in the paper while streaming the music from your SONOS system at the same time.”

The newest release by SONOS is the “soul-shaking” subwoofer, released to the market in June. One listen was enough to assure me that it’s bound to create a buzz from music lovers everywhere. The sub seamlessly integrates with your SONOS Multi-Room Speaker System, producing a beautiful, clear bass to accompany all your favourite beats. It is the cherry on top of an amazing system, predicted to drive sales for SONOS as well as increase brand familiarity in Australia.

And one last plus: with regular updates available, you can be assured your SONOS Speaker System will remain a functional lifestyle product for your home in years to come.
