Casa Kids is a Brooklyn furniture company that designs and manufactures furniture for children and creates custom rooms.
Their expertise is in bunk and loft beds, desks, storage units and custom solutions for small spaces.
The design team is headed by founder and chief designer Roberto Gil, and all the furniture made by an in-house team of woodworkers who also install the furniture in customers’ homes.
If the room has a single occupant, the designers make sure that they create separate spaces for the bedroom and study/play.
In shared rooms there is the added challenge of creating private spaces as well as common areas where the children can come together.
As a children’s furniture designer, the company understandably has an eye on the future of the planet. They use wood that has been harvested through sustainable practices and all products are made locally, reducing the environmental impact from shipping.
Since Casa Kids furniture is also modular and therefore highly adaptive, it can be used for many years. This long-term use also helps promote sustainability of the planet’s natural resources.
The accent pieces that bring the design and colour elements to the room are made to be replaced as the child’s interest and tastes change as he/she grows older. This also adds to the longevity of the furniture.
Casa Kids debuted several new designs at Brklyn Designs this year. One of these designs is the Luna Collection, a piece of furniture that starts off as a crib and can turn into a toddler bed, twin bed and bunk bed with the addition of a few parts.
Another collection that promotes sustainability since changes to suit the growing needs of the child.
