Bring Back The ‘Bro Code’

Cast your mind back to when you were at school. You had loads of friends, hell, you knew everyone in your grade. Back then; you had the luxury of seeing your friends five days a week, terrorising substitute teachers with them, sharing lunch with them. It was something you undoubtedly took for granted, miss it and would give anything to have it back.

According to a Pepsi Max survey, guys acknowledged the fact that they are seeing less of their friends, as they get older. The study unveiled that 7 out of 10 Australian blokes want to spend more time with their mates but are hamstrung by work and home commitments. As well as 42 percent of you admitting that telling ‘white lie’ to your boss/wife/family was the only way you felt you could make time for your mates.

Well, raise your long awaited pint of beer to ‘Top Mates’, an app for your iPhone that will assist with planning (and going through with) meeting up with your mates, as well as actually reward you for the time you spend with them!

Once you have downloaded the free app and created a ‘bro-file’, you are then able to invite friends via Facebook to join you on ‘Top Mates’. Once you’ve got them on the bandwagon, simply checking into places where you hang out will earn you points and once you have enough you are entered into the draw to win a 30k brocation prize!

The app also comes with an ‘excuse for not being somewhere’ tool, which synchs with the mates who also have the app, so that if anyone asks where you were, they all know to say. For example, if you choose the ‘Can’t get a cab’ excuse on your app, the excuse will be sent to your mates as a push notification. That way, if anyone calls them and asks where you are, they know what to say. You’re able to choose funny as well as serious excuses, anything from ‘with your Mumma’ and ‘delivering a baby’ are available, whilst more serious ‘vomiting’ and ‘stuck in traffic’ options are also provided.

“Aussie guys are feeling the pressure of work and home life on their friendships, so we’ve created a smart phone app to give them ways and reasons to spend more time together.” Says Adam Burling, Brand Manager and victim to loss of mate time.

The app aims to bring back your mates, notify you when you haven’t seen one in a while and most importantly, bring back your bromance, which has somehow wiggled its way down your priorities list.

Entry into the Top Mates competition closes on Wednesday 30th November at 5:00 pm, with the winning mates being crowned on Friday December 2nd. For more information visit http://www.pepsimaxtopmates.com.au/facebook
