On 8 April 2026, COS Chatswood Chase marked a new chapter in its Australian retail presence with the opening of its latest store in Chatswood Chase Shopping Centre. Positioned within the newly reopened retail destination, the store is more than just a place to shop—it is a carefully considered environment where architecture, materiality and fashion intersect to create a fully immersive brand experience.

Designed in-house by COS’ team of interior specialists, the 526-square-metre space reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, innovation and sensory design. From the moment customers step inside, the store invites exploration through its thoughtful use of spatial composition, light and texture. The layout has been meticulously planned to create flow and openness, while subtle design cues encourage visitors to slow down and engage with the environment on a deeper level.

At the core of the COS Chatswood Chase store design is a refined material palette that balances local Australian influences with globally inspired innovation. The façade is finished in Armourcoat clay lime plaster, a living surface that develops a unique patina through its interaction with water minerals during application. This evolving finish adds a layer of authenticity and individuality, ensuring no two surfaces are exactly alike. The experience at COS Chatswood Chase is truly exceptional.
Inside, the walls are treated with locally sourced clay enriched with seashells—an understated yet tactile reference to the natural Australian landscape. This organic texture contrasts beautifully with the sleek, contemporary fixtures throughout the space. Garments and accessories are displayed on aluminium railing systems and shelving developed by Smile Plastics, crafted entirely from recycled plastic. The integration of these sustainable materials reinforces COS’ broader commitment to responsible design without compromising on aesthetic integrity.

Sculptural elements further define the store’s identity. Tables by PAPER FACTOR—formed from recycled cellulose fibres and coloured using natural earth pigments—serve as functional artworks that anchor the retail space. Underfoot, terrazzo tiles by Grassi Pietre, composed of 90% recycled stone, bring durability and visual depth, while hand-tufted wool rugs by Kasthall introduce warmth and softness to the overall environment.
Furniture and lighting selections play a crucial role in shaping the store’s atmosphere, highlighting COS’ appreciation for timeless design icons alongside contemporary craftsmanship. The presence of Giancarlo Piretti’s iconic Alky chairs lends a sense of design heritage, effortlessly paired with a 1970s-inspired chrome side table from Six The Residence. In the fitting rooms, pieces by NORR11—including hand-upholstered daybeds and seating—create a more intimate and comfortable experience, balancing the darker tones of wood and modern finishes.
Lighting, too, is treated as both functional and artistic. Throughout the store, Helle Mardahl’s Bon Bon wall lights cast a soft, playful glow, introducing subtle bursts of candy-coloured hues that contrast with the otherwise muted palette. This careful interplay of light and material enhances the store’s immersive quality, shifting the perception of space as customers move throug
The opening of the Chatswood Chase location coincides with the launch of COS’ Autumn Winter collection. Staying true to the brand’s design philosophy, the collection showcases timeless silhouettes defined by precision tailoring, premium fabrics and subtle yet unexpected detailing. Each piece reflects a balance between functionality and modern elegance, reinforcing COS’ reputation for creating wardrobe staples that transcend seasonal trends.
This new store is not simply an expansion of COS’ retail footprint—it represents a holistic approach to how fashion is experienced in a physical space. By seamlessly blending sustainable materials, architectural innovation and curated design pieces, COS continues to push the boundaries of contemporary retail environments.
For Sydney’s design-conscious shoppers, the Chatswood Chase store offers more than a destination for clothing—it is a study in modern retail design, where every detail has been considered, and every element contributes to a cohesive narrative. In an era where physical retail must compete with digital convenience, COS delivers a compelling reminder of the power of space, texture and atmosphere to create meaningful, lasting impressions.
