After working in secret for more than three years, AEV Robotics has announced that their modular vehicle system (MVS) will be showcased on the international stage.
The Australian company had been working on a secret vehicle, which will be open to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2019.
Every MVS has a robotic base. Digitally controlled via a programmable interface, each base is lightweight, electric, with a four-wheel steer system, and multidirectional.
Connected to the robotic base are functional pods designed to meet the needs of businesses, city planners and fleet managers. The pods can be selected from an existing range, or designed to specific requirements.
The United Nations predicts that 68% of the world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050, which would equate to more than 6.5 billion people.
AEV Robotics CEO, Julian Broadbent, believes there is an urgent need to rethink the way we move people, deliver goods and address on demand markets in cities.
“Instead of adding technology to upgrade traditional cars, we’ve started from a clean sheet and built a completely new type of vehicle,” Mr Broadbent said.
AEV Robotics will offer developer level access to the programmable interface in 2019.
The company said this will encourage service providers to open new markets, commercialize cutting edge technology and drive social change in cities.
