The Volvo XC90 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with a host of safety features.
This seven-seater SUV is packed with innovative solutions and smart functionality making driving and parking safer and easier. The IntelliSafe support technologies that come with the Volvo XC90 include an extended Park Assist Pilot—offering automatic reversing into a parking bay as well as parallel parking entry and exit. The system takes over the steering wheel while the driver handles the gearbox and the car’s speed. It also displays a digitally created 360° view of the area around the car enabled by four concealed fish-eye cameras.
The parking manoeuvre is based on information from twelve ultrasonic sensors around the car. The sensors scan the side of the car for empty parking slots and when a parking slot measuring at least 1.2 times the car’s length is detected, the driver is notified by an audio signal as well as a message in the instrument panel. The display then guides the driver using text and animation to help park the car.
Another safety feature is the Cross Traffic Alert for reversing out of parking spots—it alerts the driver about oncoming traffic up to 30 metres on either side, making reversing out of parking spots safer and stress-free.
