The Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has just revealed the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, featuring a new design and direction, with premium quality, rugged performance and innovative technology. The all-new SUV has is reimagined and has been completely reinvented in every way. The car is for sale starting in North America this April, with Australia to follow later on this year. Here is everything you need to know about the latest Outlander:

The powerful design of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander:

The design concept of the all new Outlander is “Bold Stride”, representing a bold, adventurous attitude and confidence to move forward. The car features a strong, horizontal-themed proportion from front to back, contrasting against the broad surface and character lines with sharp edges. The car also features large diameter 20-inch wheels with overhanging fenders that further emphasise the wide body, expressing a bold presence and its stability.

The next generation Dynamic Shied expresses a strong performance and protection of both the people and the car, further emphasising the Mitsubishi Outlander’s ultimate power as an SUV. The daytime running lights and turn signals are positioned in the upper part and have been given a thin, sharp shape to improve their visibility by oncoming vehicles and pedestrians. The headlights have placed beneath them to illuminate the road more brightly and emphasise the cars wide body.

The body colours come in a unique high-brightness paint Diamond Series, Red Diamond and White Diamond, with Black Diamond being a new addition to the launch. Black Diamond is a special colour consisting of three coats, with a high density shiny layer containing glass, that’s been added to make the vehicle appear jet black to emit a sparkle when struck by light. There are also six basic colours available, for a total selection of nine body colours.

Performance and engineering:

The all new model greatly improves collision safety performance and achieves a high level of steering stability. For the first time Mitsubishi Motors has used an ultra high tensile strength steel sheet with hot stamping to create strong cabin structure and weight reduction. The multi-link suspension and electric power steering achieve high quality ride comfort for all drivers. This improves traceability during cornering as well as linear stability to provide driving pleasure.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander 4WD model incorporates a hydraulic clutch that’s driven by an electric motor and is used in the centre-coupling device to conduct front and rear torque distribution. Front and rear wheels can be strongly restrained from when the vehicle is stopped, so the rear-wheel drive force is generated from the moment of start off to provide a powerful sensation. Sensors are also able to detect the steering angle, yaw rate, driving torque, brake pressure, wheel speed, and other factors to continuously and correctly identify driver operation and vehicle status.

The all new Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with the drive modes that allow the driver to select the driving characteristics that are optimal for operation styles and driving situations. The mode selector in the center console can be used to select the drive mode for choosing the road situation and Eco mode for choosing the operation style. The settings for drive mode are Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow and Mud. The drive modes bring out the high road handling of 4WD models and also increase the potential of 2WD models to provide a sense of security and reliability while driving.

“The all-new Outlander has been crafted into a reliable SUV with significantly upgraded styling, road performance, and a high-quality feel to satisfy the needs of customers who want to expand their horizons and take on challenges of every kind.”

Takao Kato- chief executive officer of MMC

Interior design and comfortability:

The vehicle features a spacious and roomy look whilst producing a functional form that makes it easy to see the changes in the vehicle position. The upper part is covered with soft padding wrapped in leather, and stitching has been applied to project a high-quality feel. The interior colour variations for the Premium level vehicle feature genuine leather seats of light grey and black. The Mid-range vehicle features black suede combination seats and piano black interior material, while the Standard vehicle offers light grey or black fabric material seats with piano black interior material.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander’s front seats have a two-layer urethane structure to ensure the seats are comfortable the moment they are sat on and to reduce fatigue during long trips. Roominess and comfortability is enhanced by widening the body and increasing the legroom of the first and second row seats. In addition, features such as seat heaters, 3-zone automatic climate control, and rear door sunshades are available. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is a family SUV, offering three-row, seven seats, which is unique in its class. The seats can be flexibly arranged with multiple configurations to suit the number of passengers and their luggage.

To provide driving information safely and more quickly, for the first time Mitsubishi Motors has installed a windshield-type 10.8-inch Head-Up Display to project in full colour the information required for driving. In addition to driving information and warnings, such as lane departure, the displayed contents include navigation and audio information through a link with the center display, and multiple types of information can be displayed at the same time.

The car is equipped with a sound system consisting of 10 Bose speakers. Combining large door woofers with dual subwoofers provides powerful deep bass and a high-quality sound like a live performance. Space for storing smartphones is provided in the center console tray, center console side pockets, driver’s seat back pocket, and quarter trim pockets. The centre console tray also has a wireless phone charging function that charges smartphones when placed on it.

Driving assistance and safety features:

The all new Mitsubishi Outlander features an Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist, to support driving operations by maintaining the distance between vehicles and keeping the vehicle in the centre of lanes. To reduce any troublesome setting operations while driving in heavy traffic on expressways, the Mitsubishi Outlander can automatically move forward within about 30 seconds after stopping. The car has a front centre airbag for the driver’s seat and side airbags for second-row seats are standard equipped, with a total of 11 airbags installed.

The all 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander features a number of convenient functions, such as remote operation to start the engine and turn on air conditioning before getting in to make the cabin comfortable during cold winters and hot summers, as well as unlocking the doors from a remote location. To manage driving by families, the user can also receive notices when the vehicle is driven outside of a set time period, above a set speed, or outside a set area.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The all new Mitsubishi Outlander is the ideal car fit for you and the whole family, with a powerful performance drive, innovative technology, a bold design, with a spacious high-quality interior, and outstanding safety features, with innovative technology.
