Citroen has recently released a new line of SUVs: the C5 Aircross. The Citroen C5 Aircross is available in two models: The Feel, which is marked at $39,990, plus on-road expenses and The Shine, which clocks out to a little more, setting you back $43,990, plus on-road expenses. So, how does the new C5 Aircross look and feel?
It has a classic SUV look, but with a wave of newer technology to enhance comfort. Both of models’ interior is equipped with a mixture of faux-leather and black trim but unfortunately does contain some cheap-looking plastics. Both models include a touch-screen, fitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing essentially all smartphone users to hook up their kind of phone. The screen, however, is somewhat hard to use, as all traditional amenities are on it. for example, to adjust the climate control, you have to go into the touch-screen – this can be difficult while driving. The Shine model comes with the bonus of a wireless phone charger and laminated windows – making this model perfect for longer trips. Both models also include a 180-degree reverse camera that records its surroundings to allow you to park safely. The comfort of both models is outstanding, with the driver and passenger seats created from high-density foam, making the seats almost feel like a mattress, but still retains support during a long drive. The large side mirrors allow you to see the entirety of the large car, however, the rear-view mirror is slightly obstructed. One of the best comfort features is how adjustability of the rear seats. All three seats have individual tilt, recline, and sliding adjustments. This is perfect for when you’re travelling with passengers of all different heights and weights (such as growing kids). A nice benefit of the Citroen C5 Aircross is that allows some level of customisation, with seven exterior colours offered in both models.
Now, the important question, how does it handle on the road? Due to how large the car is, the steering isn’t quick to react. The steering feels slow and does have an almost delay when driving the car. This isn’t a deal-breaker, of course, but could affect your decision on purchasing the car. The acceleration is relatively good for an SUV. The car is perfect for driving in areas where speed isn’t the top priority, such as suburban towns or the city. However, taking it out on the freeway, you may notice that you don’t keep up with other cars as much. Again, this is standard for the style of car.
Overall, both the Feel and the Shine model Citreon C5 Aircross are good for working parents and families. The comfortability of the interior is ideal for those with longer commutes or who are in the car often. The adjustment abilities of the back seats, to me, really is a stand-out feature, particularly for families. The individual adjustment of the rear seats is just perfect for a family with a combination of younger kids and taller teens.
Overall, if you’re looking for a comfortable, reliable car that almost makes you enjoy those long commutes and city driving, then look into Citroen’s new range. To book a test drive please visit your nearest Citroen Authorised Dealer.
