Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 redefines the foldable smartphone category in Australia, pairing next‑level engineering with refined design. Officially unveiled at the July 2025 Unpacked event and launching here on 1 August 2025, this sleek device is already generating buzz as one of the best foldables you can buy.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Slim, Sleek and Surprisingly Light

The Fold7 sheds bulk compared to prior models—measuring just 8.9 mm when closed and 4.2 mm when unfolded, tipping the scales at a mere 215 g. Its newly engineered Armor FlexHinge reduces creasing while boosting durability. The incredible thinness and lightness make it feel more like a conventional smartphone in your pocket, yet it expands into a full-screen tablet in an instant.

Immersive Dual Displays

Equipped with Samsung’s best foldable displays, the Fold7 features a 6.5‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen and a cinematic 8‑inch QXGA+ inner display, both running at a smooth 120 Hz. Vision Booster technology keeps visuals sharp even in bright outdoor settings, and the wider 21:9 aspect ratio enhances multitasking on the go.

Top‑Tier Performance with AI Integration

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold7 packs the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor paired with 12 GB or 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It runs on Android 16 with One UI 8, offering advanced multitasking, split-view, and Galaxy AI features like Gemini Live—ideal for productivity and creativity.

Pro‑Grade 200 MP Camera System

The Fold7 debuts Samsung’s first 200 MP wide-angle camera in the foldable line, complete with upgraded ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. Combined with the ProVisual Engine, it delivers gorgeous, high-resolution shots even in low-light. A 10 MP inner screen camera and 10 MP cover display selfie cam ensure sharp people photos (Samsung).

Battery Life & Connectivity

Inside is a 4,400 mAh dual-cell battery optimised with mDNIe technology for efficient power use—promising up to 24 hours of typical use (Samsung). In Australia, the Fold7 supports 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and holds an IP48 rating for limited water resistance.

Pricing and Availability in Australia

Australian pre-orders opened in July via Samsung, Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. The Fold7 starts at AU$2,899 for the 256 GB/12 GB model, with the 512 GB variant at AU$3,099 and the 1 TB version priced higher (Samsung). Bundles include perks like a free storage upgrade, Samsung Care+ and Galaxy Buds3 Pro for early buyers (Samsung).

Expert & Media Reviews

Local and international reviews echo the praise: The Guardian calls it “a major evolution… thinner, lighter and better folding” (The Guardian), while Tom’s Guide hails it as the “most refined foldable yet” with its powerful chip and stunning screen (Tom’s Guide). TechRadar agrees, stating it “sets a standard for others to follow” despite critiques on stylus support and price (TechRadar).

Why It Leads the Foldable Race

With unmatched portability, premium performance, and productivity tools, the Galaxy Z Fold7 positions itself as the gold standard of modern foldables. Its ultra-thin body, vivid displays, robust camera system, and integrated Galaxy AI make it a compelling choice for professionals, creators, and power users in Australia.

Despite its premium price, the Fold7 offers standout innovation and capability that justify the investment—confirming its status not just as a niche gadget, but a serious, everyday alternative to phones, tablets, and mini-laptops.
