Zone Denmark Harvest Moon Lamp: A Portable Glow Shaped Like Its Name

Zone Denmark Harvest Moon Lamp is built around a shape that doesn’t try very hard to explain itself: a soft white dome on a coloured base, lit from inside so it glows like a paper lantern. It’s a portable, rechargeable lamp first, and a piece of Scandinavian design second — but it does both jobs without getting in its own way.

Designed by Mavro//Lefèvre

The Harvest Moon was designed by Sofie Lefèvre of Mavro//Lefèvre, a Danish studio that works from what it calls a human-centred approach to everyday objects. Lefèvre holds qualifications from Copenhagen Business School and the Royal College of Art, and her work for Zone Denmark has picked up international recognition including a Red Dot Design Award — not for anything flashy, but for a lamp that is genuinely pleasant to pick up and move around a house.

A Half-Moon, or a Mushroom Cap

Zone Denmark Harvest Moon Lamp in warm grey colourway

Zone Denmark’s own description leans on the shape doing the talking: a semi-spherical, translucent white shade that reads as either half a moon or a mushroom cap, sitting on a solid-coloured base available in black, terracotta and warm grey. It’s built from aluminium and ABS plastic, weighs 0.77 kg, and measures 18 cm across by 22 cm tall — light enough to carry one-handed from a dining table to a bookshelf without thinking about a cord.

Touch to Dim, USB-C to Charge

A 3-step touch dimmer on the base adjusts brightness with a tap, and the built-in 2W LED puts out a warm 3,500K colour temperature at 170 lumens — enough for ambient light, not enough to read fine print by, which is the point of a lamp like this. Run time depends on the brightness setting: up to 8 hours at full output, stretching to roughly 20 hours on the lowest setting, and a flat battery takes about 3 to 4 hours to recharge over USB-C. It’s designed for indoor use only, which rules out balconies and outdoor dining in the rain but keeps the construction simple.

Where the Harvest Moon Lamp Earns Its Keep

  • Bedside tables — soft enough light to wind down by, no cord to trip over
  • Dinner tables — a warm centrepiece that doesn’t compete with the food
  • Open shelving — the dome shape reads well from across a room
  • Anyone who wants three colour options to match an existing palette rather than one fixed finish

Where to Buy

The Zone Denmark Harvest Moon Portable Lamp is available in black, terracotta and warm grey through BEON.
