Apple is famous for its devices’, simple user interface and its outstanding customer service through products like Genius Bar.

Now it seems Apple are skipping the part where you wait for a problem and are instead bringing knowledge straight to the masses.

Launching in May “Today at Apple” is an educational series of classes aimed at all peoples, young and old, beginners to advanced users – hosted right in your local Apple Store.

Apple pitch this as creating a modern day town square which not only connects and helps people discover a new passion but also take their skills to a new level. The free programs focus on a wide range of topics and skill levels.

If you’re an amateur photographer and need to learn the basics, you can find classes on shooting, organising and editing.

Maybe you’re an amateur photographer, you may enjoy an experiential class that physically leaves the store to explore the surrounding area and learn about lighting and shadows, portraits or storytelling.

Stepping up even further you can sit in on classes about capturing candid pictures or building a brand on social media.

Just like Apple Genius hosts a visit to the Genius Bar, these classes will be taught by new Creative Pros (the arts equivalent of a Genius).

These Creative Pro’s are experts in one or more areas of the arts and Apple has ensured they are more than capable of passing along their knowledge to users of all ages and levels.

To help facilitate these new classes each Apple store will receive new displays, seating and sound.

There are over 60 classes on offer, covering topics on photography, coding, robotics, creating music, editing movies, drawing and sketching and Teacher Tuesdays will show how educators can integrate technology into the classroom.

There is also Kids Hour which hosts classes focused on educating the tech geniuses of tomorrow. Selected stores will offer a Perspectives and Performances class, which will feature talks from influential artists and musicians talking about their creative process and even live performances.

One of Apple’s goals is to leave the world better than they found it. Whether you love them or hate them, you can’t argue that free education is an excellent step in the right direction.
